Unbelievably amazing collection of stories. Beautiful prose which re-imagines scientific ideas and concepts into wondrous dreamlike stories. I stopped after the Cosmicomics collection because I want to save the back half of the book for another time when I need something amazing to read which I know I will love. When I read If On a Winter's Night a Traveller I thought Calvino was a bit overrated but after this and Invisible Cities he's ascended to one of my absolute favorite authors. 6 star book.

Too long and too rich for reading all at once. May come back to it some day. But for now the magic is gone!

From rolling on the floor laughing to rolling my eyes so hard my eyeballs fall out

Calvino is one of my favorite all time writers and this collection adds to the respect I have for him. His ability to play with genre, science, and time is incredible, engaging and unlike anything I have ever read. I loved most of the stories in this collection, especially Without Colours, The Dinosaurs, The Origin of Birds, The Chase, The Daughters of the Moon, and World Memory. Overall a brilliant collection

Some interesting stories here, but the repetitiveness of the stylistic and narrative choices made by Calvino makes reading the whole book not a pleasant experience. Individually the stories are mostly fine (a few even great), but they all feel like riffs on one another and the uniqueness soon fades.

very dense; started to fall asleep while reading the first story. this is all 3 collected works and I was only looking for the first novella/collection of short stories. Need to read book club book!
