Despite having nearly 4.6 billion years to get good, Qfwfq can’t get bitches for shit
I enjoyed the first volume a lot. It was something new and weird, nothing like I’ve ever read before. However, I didn’t enjoy Part Two of Time and the Hunter. The sentences were pages long and amounted to basically nothing. In Part Three I enjoyed the concepts but found the endless details of possibilities dreary. I can imagine this would have been an absolute nightmare to translate.
I was extremely glad for Qfwfq’s return later on and really enjoyed the last Volume and extra parts. Overall it was a whimsical read.
(Yes, some people have breasts, well done. At parts this felt like someone who’s just learnt a new word and uses it all the time to show how clever they are. All the mentions of breasts breasts and naked breasts gave massive virgin vibes iwl)

Adored the imagery and how it got me thinking, quite the mind-bender. Shame with the sexism and excessive rambling. Loved the Distance of the Moon, the Light Years and Implosion. Many descriptions stuck with me long after reading the stories.
Whimsical and fantastical tales that occasionally become tiresome in their silliness and/or semantics. Overall I would say these are best encountered in small doses; I would not recommend committing to this collection. The original version of the Eurydice/Orpheus myth is far superior to the ‘rewrite,’ which was a strange editorial choice for final story of the collection.

Didn't finish all of the stories, decided this collection is not for me. Imaginative, but too far removed from real experience.
I really liked the story about the moon being closer to the earth, where people could jump on and go for a ride. Some of the other stories have a refreshing lack of seriousness towards the laws of physics. The series occasionally veers of a little too far into preciousness in the later works. This isn't my favourite Calvino but it's still great.
