Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an arc of this book.
This book was pretty good. It was very interesting to read about another autistic person's special interests and how it shaped their life. I do however found it difficult to read sometimes because of two reasons...
The first being that it was told in a non chronological order and that confused me a lot. The timeline for everything that happened is a mess in my head.
My memory is quite bad because of some of my disabilities and yeah my brain doesn't like non chronological storytelling.
The second reason being that the sentences were just a bit long at times. Which would be fine for any other reader probably, but I'm dyslexic so long sentences are my arch nemesis.
Anyway this book was still quite good, especially for a debut, so I do still recommend it to people who wanna know more about special interests in a more memoir-ish form.

This book feels so safe. It’s one of the best I’ve read in a while. It is written so circularly - the way that I think and have conversations - jumping between connections while keeping the thread and returning to the ultimate point in a way you never expect at the beginning. It includes all the details I think are important in writing that people usually emit since they are “obvious”. I’ve never written or wanted to write a book but if I did I feel like our writing styles would be very similar. It took me so
long to read because it felt like a warm hug returning to each chapter and I wanted to save that feeling for times when I really needed it. I definitely plan on returning specifically to the audiobook whenever I need a to listen to something soothing. I’m not sure if this book will help neurotypical people understand special interests or anything about autism but I do know that I’ve never felt so seen and so accepted. Friends, this book is a treat.
