The devastation is fucking real.

I could have highlighted something on ever single page. Backman is a genius and absolute magician with words (and s/o to Neil Smith who translated the original work into english FLAWLESSLY - feels like it was written in english)

I’m just ????????????? Wow i need to reread the series.

The law of diminishing returns applies to this series too; like a Staind album, how much angst do you really need?

This is the final book in the Beartown trilogy.  And just like the others, it was so good.  This one for me was the most Backman of the books.  I laughed and cried.  There were perfect, wonderful scenes that made you feel the joy of the characters and also scenes where you felt their heartbreak.
This book was stressful for me.  It was strongly hinted that we would lose a loved one.  Because that’s how Backman writes – you fall in love with his characters.  They feel like they could be your brother, best friend and hero.  And when I finished this book, I almost felt hungover.  My heart was broken, my spirits were refreshed, I had hope.  I was exhausted but also wanted more.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  Read this man’s books.

I loved this series, and this is a fine ending, but it definitely felt like this book was about 200 pages too long. This book repeats many of the plot lines and themes of the first two books, and although the way Backman describes characters and their motivations will always be interesting and intriguing, I felt a little run down by this last installment.

This book was just so beautiful written.
When I first read the book, I didn’t like BoBo. But as the books went on, I grew to really liked BoBo. I loved his friendships with Amat and benji and how good of a friend he was for them. As much we all want to be the person who travels, most of us are like BoBo. We live simple lives, with getting a simple job like a mechanic, continue to do our hobbies and fall in love. I loved his romance.
Benji’s storyline was fantastic. He’s one of my favourite characters ever in literature. He’s just such a good man and it was so refreshing seeing him so accepted by the town and his relationships with his sister.
Amat also had a great arc. I really liked seeing him feel all of pressure on him for the sport and how he had to cope.
I do think this story was a little long with such a huge cast of characters.
Seeing Ana’s and Maya’s relationship change and grow over the years was really beautiful to read.
As someone who’s played sports my whole life, I get the feeling of being on a team and how important it is. I loved seeing the town and how it brought everyone together.
