I couldn’t put this book down; I just needed to know what happened next. The ending was rather unsatisfying & it almost seemed rush in comparison to the rest of the book. I wanted to fight both Isobel & Boo. I didn’t appreciate the racism & fatphobia in this book; it just seemed to nasty & unnecessary to me. It’s a decent book - it kept me engaged & the characters’ flaws were written so well that I genuinely hated them - however, I didn’t love it.

I truly wasn't sure how I was going to rate this one. After reading Yinka Where is My Huzband this one didn't really come close. I wanted to like this group of women and celebrate friendship but they all truly sucked. They were fine initially, but all did really shitty things in their romantic relationships. I know friendships have ebbs and flows but everyone seemed extremely self-centered & wasn't very supportive. So many secrets, going behind people's backs, and of course, it all blew up in their faces. Doing bad things doesn't necessarily make you a bad person but I didn't find any of these characters lovable.

There is one character Ronke, who is described as curvy and her friends tease her for her size. I found all the descriptions about her in the book gross and frustrating. Ronke was always deduced to her weight, talking about food, and how she can't find a man. I just found that tired.

There was a twist at the end of the book in the last 15 pages that really surprised me and almost made me give it 3 stars - just because it made things more interesting. But then the book ended so abruptly it didn't quite make sense.

I really enjoyed this debut novel! Every night before bed I found myself immersed in Ronke's, Simi's, and Boo's world. One thing I really enjoyed about the characters was how real they are. They are riddled with faults, but are also charming and human. I wouldn't describe this book as a thriller, as 90% of the book is just the lives of the the three protagonists, and how they are slowly being unraveled by a new "friend" who enters the friend group. The events of the end of the book happen pretty fast, it almost feels like it came out of nowhere. This book also has a toxic-friend trope, which I love. All-in-all, I recommend this book!

 Very interesting.
I would have liked the ending to be more satisfying for the protagonists, but I still recommend it if you like reading about drama.
