Absolutely did not disappoint

I am so in love with this series.

It’s so heart wrenching, but it’s also the sweetest story. This journey is riveting and keeps you on your toes.

I have so many questions after that ending!

The Dark Truth was a pretty interesting sequel. I liked getting more pieces to our giant mysterious puzzle because I'm still confused as to who betrayed who at this point. Even though Lucifer's brothers are acting real suspicious - bloody angels! Not sure who is betraying the devil either but I can't wait for the big reveal. I just want some bad ass revenge and blood right now.

Other than that, I'm so happy that Sara and her hounds are getting closer to one another. It's definitely helping me out because their chemistry is there and I liked it. I just hated all the teasing and cockblocking moments. I just want them to get all smutty and to stay there.

Again, I'm not sure what answers I'm going to get in the next book but I'm very excited to figure it all out. Let's go kick some demon and angel ass guys!

The darkest truths cut the deepest - and mean the most. In this second installment of the Hells Hound Harem, Sara and the gang fall soul deep into the mystery that is surrounding them, and shredding the walls of hell. The Devil is weakening, the spirits are getting loose and Sara's memories are lost to the wisp she once was.

Hell of a continuation in a truly dark series that smacks you upside the head, scrambles your brain and dares your heart to break. Read it.

Just gets better and better

UPDATE: rereading the series since the final trilogy is about to be released soon! This is is the second book of the first trilogy in the hell hound harem series! If I could make everyone read this series, I would. I don’t know the author personally, nor did I receive an arc to read these books, I just love them THAT much. I thought maybe I just hyped these books up in my mind, but no, they are still just as good the second time around. The love and loyalty between these characters is one of a kind. Truly an excellent series.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

My love for this series... just wow. So much emotion and love between the hounds. Such loyalty. I’m so anxious to find out exactly what’s going on and why Sara. Why did they target her, although it’s slightly obvious it’ll be becuase if her connection to Lucifer. Man, this author sure can create such amazing characters. I love every single one. I even enjoy Lucifer and I never thought I’d say that lol there’s mystery, suspense, romance, heat, sadness. It’s all in this series. Excited to read the next book!

I just finished this series a week or so ago. It centres on Sara, who meets a pack of hell hounds and slowly regains memories of her past, including her past life, whilst dealing with sinister spirits escaping hell and a mysterious group plotting ‘hell on earth’. Can they work out who are behind these schemes?

I liked the paranormal, kickass, guardians of hell theme in this series. It kept me invested in the plotline through each book and had a satisfying ending! I also enjoyed the steamy scenes between characters, and some do have some extra spice. I would have loved more character development for some of the side characters, and perhaps this might occur in the other books Briana Michaels has written in this universe. I also yearned to read more of our heroine in the kickass action scenes but overall this series had a good balance of romance and the paranormal. I recommend if you’re a fan of these genres!

I couldn't put the first book down, so I charged right into this installment. I thought a lot of things were better. I wasn't as hung up on the writing style because I knew what to expect and the plot continued to be compelling. I liked that there was more character development for the males, especially since she had remembered a lot of things by the beginning of the book. They all continued to grow as a pack and in their individual pairings. I found it a little jarring though when even more voices were thrown into the narrative (Master especially since we have zero description to go off of for the scene). I can understand why they were there for variety, but then the book had a tendency to get repetitive since we already knew what happened. It's a little clunky.

However, this book ups the suspense, gore, action, and sex. A LOT. Boundaries are pushed all while they try to protect Hell. The premise is fun and I like that even though there's a big bad happening it doesn't interfere with the romance element. This is definitely reverse harem first and foremost. On to book 3!

Tropes: reverse harem; dark fantasy/horror; feisty female Hound meets her pack of Hell Hounds (4 males); NOT a slow burn; crude language and much sex throughout; blood, death, murder, violence, gore, and characters in peril; sex with multiple partners at a time; BDSM, kink, toys, and a sex club visit; some M/M action, though not a lot; torture and mentions of history of torture; conspiracies and looming threats; repressed memories and flashbacks; near death experiences and depictions of mania.

Heat rating: NUCLEAR—explicit sex, indelicate language during sex, and graphic depictions of a sexual nature used to further the story; may also include light kink; not quite enough for an EXPLICIT level (5), but takes it a level past HOT (3).
