After reading The Secret of Ventriloquism by Jon Padgett, I have been living in a fugue, wishing for nothing more than to re-enter the waking nightmare world it introduced me to. Then I found this, a short story set in Dunnstown, about an ER doctor who gets addicted to nightmares, who is obviously very relatable, as a horror fan.

Like the stories in The Secret of Ventriloquism, it blurs the lines between waking and dreaming, and it makes allusions to beings and themes found there. If you liked that book, then you literally need to read this. It's another story set in the same universe, and it's just as creepy and bizarre. It has definitely whet my thirst for more of this terrifying town, at least for a little while. Of course, if you haven't read TSoV, this might be a good taste to see if you'd be interested in reading more of his work. Either way, I highly recommend it!
