I didn't want this to end, I wasn't ready for it to end! I just wanted it to keep going and going, I can't even express how much I loved this!

An absolute delight!! I love the way the way the three generations if women and the dynamics of their relationships have been captured by the author!! Insightful and thought provoking!!

Unnecessarily developed side stories

Long, elaborate stories about every family member are both good and bad. I wish the book were half as long, especially since the romance isn't developed well in this tell-don't-show until the sex scene story. The way the family reunites is inspiring.

I thought it was boring at first. I was forcing myself to read the first 150 pages. Then it got interesting. So many secrets between mother and daughters. It was emotional, realistic and captivating. It is a solid 4 stars read ❤️

Guys she did it again!!! If you didn't see my review for the Christmas Sisters, let me tell you that I loved that book and it made me determined to read all of Sarah Morgan's books! This book was just as good as I was hoping it would be. In How to Keep a Secret we are following a mother and her two daughters. I think what I love most about Sarah Morgan's writing is that her characters all experience growth in some way shape or form. Sometimes they grow in more than one way. They are able to grow in a romantic love, they grow their relationship as sisters, they grow in their love of family, and in this one in particular what home really means to them. I can say that I definitely shed some tears in this book. This book takes place on Martha's Vineyard and Sarah Morgan is able to teleport you to feeling like you are on this warm beach right along with her characters. I know she has a new Christmas book coming out and I can't wait to read it and all of her backlist books!

How to Keep a Secret was an affecting and moving story of family, loss, strained relationships, and–as the title implies–secrets. Filled with life lessons learned the hard way, Sarah Morgan’s newest novel is sure to be a crowd-pleaser that readers will certainly relate to.

I’ve read and loved many of Sarah Morgan’s romances so I was excited to read this book as it is actually women’s fiction/chick lit. And just like I knew would happen when I started reading this, it didn’t disappoint in the least. The storyline was tangled, bittersweet, and engrossing. And by pairing that up with characters who were complex and engaging, it really had me flying through the pages. Read More

I received this book for free from the publisher (Harlequin) as part of their bookstagram publicity campaign.

I loved this book!

A blurb on the back of the book from fellow author, Jill Shalvis, describes this book as being “Jane Green meets Sophie Kinsella.” I haven’t read anything by Jane Green but I definitely got a few Sophie Kinsella vibes from this (I love Sophie Kinsella if you didn’t already know). One of the characters, Lauren, lives in London at the beginning of the book, which reminds me a lot of Sophie’s characters.

A large part of this book are the secrets and the fallouts that happen when they get revealed and I thought they were handled perfectly. I loved how the secrets were revealed one at a time. They were spaced out nicely and woven throughout the story.

description

This book is about three generations of women, which is a trope I love reading about and it was very well executed. All the women were fleshed out and felt real. I liked that we are given all 4 perspectives because that allows you to really get to know the characters and their feelings. I know some people had issues with the perspective changes but I didn’t have any issue with it and didn’t find it confusing.

There is romance, but the main focus of the book are the familial relationships, and I liked how the romance didn’t overshadow that. There was a nice balance between the two.

Overall, this was a wonderful piece of women’s fiction with a lot of heart and romance.

Fab holiday read, based on 2 sisters and their mum and how they deal with all that life throws at them. I’ve only got brothers- made me feel I’ve missed out- no offence to my brothers!

I have been loving Sarah Morgan for engaging, multigenerational stories about love and families. How to Keep a Secret is very much in this same vein. Two sisters saw something as kids that they swore never to talk about. Now as adults, one of them has a faltering marriage and a surly teenage daughter, while the other is struggling to get pregnant. Both have a distant relationship with their mother. When circumstances throw all four women together on Martha's Vineyard, long-buried secrets will be uncovered, along with a chance for healing.

Sarah is able to really bring the characters in this book to life in relatable ways. I felt connected to all of their stories and enjoyed the inclusion of three different generations of women as perspective characters. I was hooked in quickly and didn't want to put the book down until the very satisfying conclusion.
