I'm never left wanting at the end of a Jennifer Probst book, and this was no disappointment.
Gavin was quite charming, and even though I kinda wanted to hate him the first time he appeared, he wore me down. Just like he did with Miranda.
Since this book deals with a pair coming back together after a separation, I liked that you could tell that the Hero had grown by leaps and bounds. He still had to struggle with his life choices, but made the one that was right for everyone in the end.
Miranda was ready to sacrifice everything so she could make a clean break, but he was dogged. He'd already told her he'd never let her get away again, and he was true to his word.
Very hot & steamy - while also heartwarming and cute.
In my opinion, the part with the rival reviewer could have been ditched to include more of Andy and his family, but overall the book worked very well.
If you like Ms. Probst's books, you'll like this one - and it's also a really good book if you want to give her a shot. Invest $3 and a few hours, and you'll get your investment back in spades.

Romantic, sexy and just what I was looking for.
This somewhat short book about getting a second chance at love is filled with beautiful descriptions of the places the story takes us. Probst goes as far as including the account of an entire opera in order for the main characters to have a very important conversation. She also has a very charming character quoting “Frank Sinatra-isms” throughout and giving life lessons based on them, which not just explains her book dedication but also probes she writes smart and well as humorous and hot.
“ You have to say the words, Miranda.” The silky command raked across her ears. “Invite me in.”

“I need a shirt that says Do It With A Foodie.”

This is a very fun read! The characters were fun to read about, and each one had something that I loved about them. Yes, even Allison and how she is shown up by Miranda. I thought that this book was a great look into what it takes to be happy, and how decisions can be made and how life changes because of it. I was biting my nails and rooting for Gavin and Miranda the whole way wondering if they were really going to get a happy ending. I loved hearing about the 'foodie' industry without it all being super technical, this story may have been about a food critic but it was truly a story about Miranda and her relationship with Gavin as well as a story about Gabe and his relationship with Miranda. I thought the parts from Gavin's perspective were wonderfully well written and I had to remind myself that a woman had written the book, it was so real. I loved how it explored every aspect of them, from their fun and intensity and their heart ache and how they are able to cope, and live a happy life. Also how others impacted and reacted to them, with them and around them. Wonderful! If there are more books about this crew I will reach each one happily and eagerly! I am a huge fan of Jennifer Probst!

I really really enjoyed this!
As horrible as Gavin is for leaving, his determination to try and heal the wounds he left in Margaret is admirable. Sure, he's hella late, but he refuses to back down when he sees that there are still sparks between them. Their relationship sizzles slowly for most of the book, building and building to a grand finale.
I found both characters to be enjoyable and real. Both characteristics go a long way in making this an fun, fast-paced romance. Definitely another hit for Probst.

The last place Miranda Stowe expected to find Gavin Luciano was in the middle of Mia Casa while she she having dinner with her best friend. Seeing Gavin brought up all the ugly memories of how he left and what she had to deal with afterwards. She uses her job as a food critic to get her ultimate revenge, but she learns that Gavin isn't going to give up that easily.
Three years ago, Gavin abruptly left Miranda for a job in Europe. Temporarily home to help save his family's restaurant from bankruptcy, Gavin also planned on finding a way to apologize to Miranda and prove to her she meant more to him than just a brief affair. But Gavin has his work cut out for him, because Miranda is not the same woman he left behind and this one isn't going to let him off that easy.
This was a cute story, but I wasn't really in love with the characters the way I wanted to be. Miranda was just a bit too cold (and down right nasty when she ran into her arch nemesis in restaurants) to make me want Gavin to fight for her. I understood why she was that way, but it was just too much of a change from how she used to be.
Then there was Gavin. Sometimes he was just a little too wishy washy for me. He wanted to help his family, yet he was ready to flee in a matter of weeks. He wanted to win Miranda back, yet he was leaving for China in a few weeks. With all his contemplations in India and his realization that he loved Miranda, he didn't come to the conclusion that he wanted to be back in New York?
I enjoyed the foodie part of the story and LOVED Gavin's father and his gang of old croonies. I love how Gavin's dad quoted Sinatra and how he and his friends would fight over the rat pack. They were charming and brought back memories of my childhood growing up with my Italian grandfather playing Dean and Frank.
