Took me a LONG time to get through this book. It wasn't that it was bad, I love the characters, I just didn't find myself dying to see what happened next. That being said I love how everything got wrapped up nicely in a pretty little bow at the end
I want to know if Jack and Ellen lived! God dang it!
The world of magic is on the brink! The once-powerful Wizard's Guild has fallen, replaced by a tense power struggle between the Underguilds. Thrust into this maelstrom is Emma, a young woman yearning for normalcy. Haunted by tragedy, she finds herself at the heart of a conflict threatening to reignite war.
Meanwhile, Jonah, an Enchanter marked by the Thorn Hill massacre, grapples with his own mortality. Enhanced strength, speed, and a deadly touch mark him as a formidable assassin, yet a slow death lingers on the horizon. As Jonah uncovers the truth about Thorn Hill, his world crumbles.
While the beginning is a bit slow, the story quickly picks up steam, weaving a captivating narrative around compelling characters with complex challenges.
Fabulous ending to a fabulous set of books! I ran into this one as a newly added book in my school's library and immediately went WAIT. SORCERER HEIR? LIKE DRAGON AND WIZARD AND WARRIOR HEIR? And then proceeded to check the stacks for The Enchanter Heir and brought both of them home. So much for studying for AP exams! Worthwhile procrastination I must say. And a satisfying ending, one that Chima could easily add more stories to if she wanted to for instance make a spinoff and what not. And the songs? In this one and Enchanter Heir. They were so great I would love to hear them sung too.
And the series is done! This was a great wrap up of a fun series that introduced a plethora of fun characters and interesting magic and lore. The story took quite a few twists and turns, and was packed with emotion.
Leesha had a larger role and she definitely has changed a lot since the first book, though I'm not sure if I loved her or not. That said, I still found her to be a good character, though hands down my favourites were Jonah and Emma. Emma matured a lot and made some difficult choices, and Jonah was just layer upon layer of heartache and sacrifice. I didn't know how things were going to turn out for them, and was all but begging for this poor duo to get a break!
The story itself was very well put together and paced, and I never felt there was too much time being dwelt in one area, despite the length of the book. That said, there were a couple instances that didn't quite seem to wrap up exactly as I anticipated and I kind of hoped for a little bit more. It would have made the ending a little more solid for me, but I still think it ended on a nice note.
Nitpicking aside, I really did enjoy this series and it introduced me to a great author who I truly want to read more of.

For not having picked up one of these books in almost a decade, I adored the conclusion to the series. There were twists and turns, highs and lows, laughs, and the remembering of all these characters I haven’t seen in so long.
WHY IS IT OVER SO MANY UNANSWERED THINGS AND NEW ROMANCES THAT SHOULD CALL FOR A NEW BOOK! PERHAPS A SPINOFF SERIES?
