I really enjoyed this book. It's kind of funny, because the only reason I kept reading this series after Dragon Heir was because I had already bought the rest of the books, not realizing the last two followed a different storyline. Dragon Heir was so disorganized and poorly executed, I had pretty much lost hope in Chima's writing, but I forged on, as I'm not one to get rid of books I've never even read. I'm glad I did. The Thorn Hill storyline pulled me in a lot more than the previous one, and the books, in general, were written much more skillfully. This time, when she wrapped up her story, nothing felt rushed and thrown in last-minute, like before. There were still about two pages of exposition toward the end, but more scenes followed them, allowing for a nice, personal ending.
I loved this book! The author has grown so much in her writing between The Warrior Heir and here. I grew to love all the characters, and everything just worked for me. Pieces really fell together in a way that made sense but also wasn't too predictable. Whereas the fourth book was basically all set-up, we get the payoff in this book. I do wish that there was more of the characters from the first few books though. The series feels less like a 5 book series, and more like a trilogy followed by a spin-off duology.
I thought this book was super solid conclusion to this five book series. I really liked how this book wrapped up both the mini storylines in the last two books and all the stores in the previous four novels. I really enjoyed the various POV charters we got in this novel. I also the characters Joanah and emma were very unique. I also also the various mysteries that wrapped up in this novel. I thought one mystery was a tad predictable. But overall I thought this book was a solid ending to the series.

-1 for Maddison...
In all seriousness though this was a solid series. The world building was fascinating, the characters were so cool (not you, Maddison) and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This book dragged in a few places but I still had a good time.

Overall I liked it. It did drag for me in some places, though that might be because I read the whole series back to back, and the repetition got to be a bit much. However, I think if I had read them more spread apart that wouldn't have bothered me as much.
The story was engaging and I liked all our new characters, and really enjoyed the expansion on the original trilogy.

I might have fallen in love with Jonah a little bit. I really enjoyed this book and the characters, especially characters from previous books and how they developed. This was an excellent end to this series.
A good conclusion to the series. We learn the true story behind the Thorn Hill massacre, and both Jonah's and Emma's relationship to it. I loved the use of music in key moments of the story. There are surprising revelations about family, and some great battles with "hosted shades" (i.e. zombies!). We get nice scenes with all of the main characters from the previous books, which made me happy. I'm just sorry to see the series end.
"Jack shrugged. I'm a hero. What can I say?"
This. Book. Was. Amazing. A perfect ending to a great series! As a whole, this entire series was hit or miss for me. Some books I adored and others I hated. But the Enchanter Heir and Sorcerer Heir were my favorites. I loved that we followed the same characters from Enchanter Heir and got to know them even better in this book. Jonah and Emma are my favorite characters from the series as well. I loved seeing all the old faces and seeing everyone kick ass one last time. While the entire premise was not very original I wasn't super surprised with what went down most of the time, this book did have some huge plot twists I did not see coming. I just love this world and all the charters and I will miss it a whole lot...The ending did not wrap as as well as I would have hoped but it was better than the Dragon Heir. Now, onward to the Seven Realms series! I have high hopes (:
