Secrets, secrets, and more secrets.

Jonah's and Emma's relationship is something that is rare in the books that I read. I liked how it was different from most other novels where the characters instantly fall in love and there's smooth sailed here on out. I enjoyed how rocky it was. Even when something earth-shattering was thrown at them, I still silently hoped that they would find a way to make it work. Although, I wanted to yell at them a few times when the other concealed a secret that could dramatically improve their investigation.
I was incredibly heartbroken when Grace Miss turned out to be one of the victims. She was just one of those characters that you always believe they would be there.

I honestly had no idea who the murderers were for both Thorn Hill and the wizard murders. I had my suspicions, but each time those characters turned up, my suspicions were altered. I thoroughly all of the miscommunication/lack of communication strategically planned throughout the book.
If I had to choose a favorite character from the series, I would have to say, Jack. Mainly because he's been there since the beginning and original characters always end up leaving a lasting impression.
My favorite book of the series would have to be The Wizard Heir. There is a big sense of family throughout the entire story. We slowly uncover more secrets that bring the characters together. I absolutely love Hasting's, Downey's, and McCauley's relationship. I can't explain it, they are just perfect together.

My favorite side character would have to be Kenzie. I dreaded the inevitable, silently hoping that he would survive. I was ecstatic that he made it to the end! I enjoyed this sarcastic humor when the story grew darker.

Lastly, I am so thankful that I got to read this series! It is one of the favorites! Without it, I would not have discovered my passion for reading and writing. I cannot imagine where I would be and what I would be doing today without it. I cannot believe that it has been nine years since the first book hit the shelves. I am so thankful that I discovered it when I did, I hate picking up series only to discover that they have already concluded. I also love the fact that the books are based close to where I grew I so I know exactly that Chima is talking about while reading them. I smile each time I stumble upon something so familiar. The books are absolutely amazing and inspiring.
adventurous dark emotional mysterious

This book is a great wrap-up of the new storyline, even though I get the feeling there could still be more to come in this series.

Given how up-and-down my history with this series has been, I was not expecting to go into this book and come out of it satisfied, but here I am.

This installment absolutely did wonders with keeping the story engaging while moving at a much better pace than previous books in the series, and I do feel like I largely was satisfied with the majority of what happened by the end. Most of the characters come out of it for the better and have excellent plot resolutions, and the entire conclusion itself was well done.

Granted, I do have a few minor complaints to lodge. (No surprise there.)
1. I loved the resolution with Leesha and seeing her character growth, as well as getting to see her start a new relationship with Fitch, but it would have been nice to see her visit Jason's grave one last time. Jason's death and her visitations to his grave have become such a pivotal part of her defining character growth, and given how she visits his grave to talk to him about how intense things have gotten, it would have been nice to see her go there one last time by the end to tell him they succeeded, that all is well, and to let him know she's starting a new relationship with Fitch, probably with the sense she has Jason's blessing.
2. We haven't heard anything regarding Jack and Ellen by the end of the book. We know Jonah knocks them out, and that's it. We don't get any more, and that's irritating.
3. For that matter, we get to hear that Madison survived and she's still struggling with survivor's guilt, but nothing beyond that, and we have no clue what's going on at all with Seph, or any of the other "mainliner" characters from Trinity.
4. Almost everything with the shades, despite the hint things will get better, just doesn't exactly get fully wrapped up? Lilith is still out there, presumably with Gabriel now? Are we really just leaving it at that?
5. I've complained about this in my review on The Dragon Heir but are we still seriously not going to see Seph suffer any consequences for the time he was addicted to using a wizard whiskey just to boost his power output? I'm still waiting on that. Pretty much everything else that I had complained about in my review of that book has been addressed, except Seph's addiction.

All-in-all, it's just so hard to think that this is where the series ends. Honestly, I'd love to see Chima continue writing stories for our various characters from this series in the future, because I'd love some more resolution and just seeing new things with these characters.

And that ladies and gents is how u wrap up a series! This is my favorite in this series so far!!
1) The warrior heir 3/5
2) The wizard heir 3.5/5
3) The dargon heir 4/5
4) The entchaner heir 4/5
5) The sorcerers heir 5/5!(:

A lovely conclusion to this series. I liked how everything wrapped up. Unlike The Dragon Heir, this ending didn’t feel rushed or too tidy. Like The Dragon Heir, the ending is Ione so more could be added, though this time I doubt it will (but I would be happy if the story continued).
I liked how in this book more of the original characters played a larger role.
Overall, a fun series. glad I decided to reread/read it this year.

4.5/5

Aghhh what a conclusion!

Chima has totally outdone herself. I thought I loved the way [b:The Dragon Heir|2866413|The Dragon Heir (The Heir Chronicles, #3)|Cinda Williams Chima|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1304657191l/2866413._SY75_.jpg|2529437] ended, but I loved the end of this installment even more. Tension and deception are running high as the savants, shades, Trinity council and the Wizards try to figure out what went wrong at Thorn Hill all those years ago. So many people are out for blood and blood will be spilled.

There are so many characters in this book who are determined to see their truth of events be revealed. And all of it centers around using or blaming two people: Emma & Jonah. There was so much back and forth between the truth and lies around these two. It was so hard to figure out what the complete truth was, but I absolutely loved the journey!

The explanation for Thorn Hill was insane and we learn a lot about the people who were behind its mission. I loved how everything worked out. It was so good seeing the characters I came to love in the first three books doing their best to make things right. While Jonah & Emma are definitely more solitary characters, I loved the interactions I saw between them and my original gang of misfits.

Besides the main two, Alicia really stood out in this installment. Alicia has had a lot of shit thrown her way. I loved seeing her own up to her past mistakes, and grow from her past. She did her best to help Seph and his friends. She also struck up a genuine friendship with Emma and I really loved seeing Emma find other friends besides the savants.

So much happened in this book and I'm still in awe of the wild journey it was. Chima has solidified a place on my favorite authors list for sure.

This book picks up right where the last book, The Enchanted Heir, along with all the action, angst and intrigue. A satisfied ending to this series.

Loved it!

SO good.
