As a fan of memoirs, journals, and any kind of personal diary, I was immediately drawn into this story. The story of May Dodd is painted for you in a realistic, charming, and raw adaptation of what life was like for Indian tribes on the American Frontier. If you have any interest in the history of this nation, and the lifestyle of those who were here before settlers, then I highly recommend you curl up with this book.

I had a great time right up until the final notebook. The ending absolutely broke me. I know it was painfully realistic, and reflects the injustices levied at native Americans but MAN did it hurt.

Well written and reflective, but a bit too bleak to earn more than 3 stars from me.

I was very interested in the concept of this book/plot and how it was written in journal form but overall was disappointed once I started reading.

Not overly into historical fiction and I've read it portrays native Americans poorly

This book tells the story of May Dodd and a group of brave young women who embark on a new life as the brides of Cheyenne warriors. It's loosely based on a little-known tidbit of history known as "Brides for Braves". The actual event never happened. However, it was suggested by the Cheyenne chief known as Little Wolf during a meeting with President Ulysses S. Grant.

Hated this book. More proof to me that a man cannot write from a woman’s perspective. Absolutely nothing believable about this. Wouldn’t have given it a star at all if that had been possible. Stereotype abound and I don’t even want to finish writing anything about this
