I genuinely enjoyed the writing but the story itself is not for me and made me feel numb more than anything which I think takes some skill because I was not bored, I was just numb and kept going and before I knew it I had finished the whole book fairly quickly

i really do think i need to read this again and annotate it heavily because there is so much to cover i could write an entire paper about this novel.

As much as I want to read more diverse perspectives of mental illness, this wasn’t it for me. This story went straight downhill with no highs. Three/four different mental perspectives that were interesting.

Not what I expected, and like nothing else I've read. A roller coaster of emotions and the book raises and confronts uncomfortable truths about being human, being a woman, and how our choices about our bodies (and life) often aren't our own.

This book has definately got me thinking. I wish I had a bit more patience to disect it. This is not a straight forward read. I'd like to discuss this book with people face to face which I do not tend to do, so maybe in book club to understand the symbolism futher one day. I am interested in exploring patrichary, culture and mental health and this book certainly has those themes. I would probably re-read this which I never normally consider. Also as a vegan I would hope that it makes people consider their diet's; it's healthy and fun and not like the book.
