I cried in so many chapters. And resonated so deeply with her mixed feelings about the church and yet her love for the local churches she attended. I resonated with her wrestling with a clear call on her life to teach and share the scriptures and Jesus, and being in a context that will always treat that calling with suspicion because of gender. The way she vulnerably shared some deep personal tragedies and valleys left me with tears streaming down my face.
I’m so deeply thankful for this book, especially for a season in my life where the struggle is more acute and the assumptions around me don’t match what’s going on inside. I will continue to cling tightly to Jesus, as her words reminded and encouraged me to do.
I can’t say enough good things.
