A fun, funny, thrilling mystery with an ending that feels like hot tea slowly warming your entire body. Vera is messy AF and I'm obsessed with her.

It may have began with the dead body in the tea shop, but it doesn't end until Vera has rearranged everyone's lives. It doesn't matter whether you're a cop, a neighbor or a customer, Vera will not only give you advice, she'll make things happen. I think I'm grateful I don't have a Chinese mother. But Vera is fascinating from a distance.

I couldn't wait for the second book. The main character can be a pill, but she is also just so great. Humans are complex.
