Pretty disappointed by this one, though I liked lines and elements. Read Birnam Wood instead!

I don't even know how to rate this book as I don't even know what to think about it. There were ideas but were they tied together?

Succinct and direct, with maybe the coldest protagonist I've encountered in a while! This is a story about manipulation, loneliness, and what we do when our worldview is disrupted unexpectedly. Enjoyed this!
Made it more than half way and I didn’t like the characters. I didn’t care for the plot, which still felt slow at that point, and I jsut didn’t want to waste more time trying to get into this story.
This was a whole lot of much ado about nothing. How the hell did this get booker prize. I feel like I must be missing something because this felt like a college students half formed thoughts stolen from their first 6 months of lecture. There were so many pieces that had NO PURPOSE AT ALL like it pisses me off. The ending was so anticlimactic I can’t even discuss it. Except to say I am SO TIRED of authors not committing to an ending like say SOMETHING. fuck have Franck do it like actually put the gun in the child’s hands.
This author had nothing new to say and the old things she said were convoluted, opaque, and lost in a dense forest of pointless characters and tangents. It was well written and funny but I will be forgetting I read this.
