I've enjoyed Rachel Kushner's other books, particularly The Mars Room, but I probably wouldn't have finished this if it wasn't an author I already knew. I found it very dull and tedious for most of its length, and I'm not sure the payoff at the end was worth it. And I know the lack of personality is part of Sadie's character, but I found her really hard to invest in as a result. Just very disappointing.
