I appreciated the way this book provided a story in a lovely setting. Emily's character is very developed and interesting and I appreciated how the story delved into larger topics and ideas even though it was written for children. I loved the descriptions and the way this book brought me back to my childhood.

Too much kitten drowning. Pacing problems in the middle. The visit to her great aunt Nancy was a fun section. As always with Montgomery, my favorite parts are her descriptions of nature. But most of the adults in this story are pathologically awful. Dean Priest is creepy AF. I’m glad that, despite how awful some things are now, at least we treat pets and children better.

Not my favorite L.M. Montgomery heroine, but still a very good read.

Emily of New Moon I read it when I was little and I loved it but I remember not being able to understand all the details. Now that I've read it again after years I liked it all the same and I appreciated it even more after I understood the details. This book reminded me of the happiness when we were children and the happiness we found in the little things. I liked the characters of Laura and Jimmy, but also of Elizabeth. Deep down from the beginning I understood that she had a fondness for Emily. As for Dean Priest I don't know how I feel because as a friend I like him but I think it wasn't just a friend's feelings towards Emily. As for the group of Emily, Perry, Ilse and Teddy I really like it, it's a naive and beautiful friendship.

Re-read of one of my favorite LM Montgomery books. I love that Emily is fine with being a alone, is a little odd, and is whimsical and serious at the same time.
