Boutique ski resort Madigan Mountain has been owned and run by the Madigan family for generations, but current owner Mark has just informed his three sons that he intends to sell the property. Recently remarried, he hopes to retire and travel the world with his new wife, Melody. Mark's eldest son Reed, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, hasn't been home to Colorado in ten years, but when he receives his father's message, he decides that it's time to pay a visit. He's concerned that unscrupulous investors may be taking advantage of his father. When he arrives, he's stunned to discover that his former college sweetheart, Ava Aichers, is now working for the resort and has become his father's right hand. Not only that, the investors' offer is significantly overvalued, immediately making Reed suspect that they have an ulterior motive for purchasing the property. He's determined to learn the truth, but the problem is that he will have to work closely with Ava to do so.

Ava and Reed's relationship ended badly back in college, and it was clear that they were both still hurting when they first saw each other again. To Reed's credit, he was quick to apologize to Ava for his past behavior. Their chemistry was as strong as ever, and I loved the way that seeing the resort through her eyes helped him fall back in love with it again. Also, even though this story dealt with some heavier topics at times, the emotional parts were balanced out by a number of scenes that had me laughing out loud.

I highly recommend this funny, sweet, and heartwarming story for all contemporary romance fans. I plan to check out the remaining books in the series and look forward to whatever Sarina Bowen writes next.
