Reed + Ava

Reed comes back home to Madigan Mountain as his family is getting ready to sell his childhood home and family-owned ski resort. He was shocked to find Ava working as his dad’s assistant. Especially since he hadn’t seen Ava since they ended their relationship 10 years ago.

I loved the way both Ava and Reed healed through this story. Both from their shared loss and the loss that caused Reed to leave 10 years ago. Reed and Ava together are an unstoppable force for Madigan Mountain as well as the Madigan brothers.

I did this to myself but I need to read some real books next. don’t recommend other than the small town family owned ski resort cozy winter romance vibes were hit. but everything was cringy. I had to skim like maybe 1/3 of the book. I only finished the book because I was more interested in the subplot (how they were gonna save the ski resort) than the romance main plot. that said… yeah I need to switch and read a book where romance is not the main plot.

A Little Too Late is a second chance romance by Sarina Bowen. Sarina Bowen's book are always comfort reads for me and this was no exception. This is the first book in a set of companion novels (3) that are going to be written by three different authors.

I liked the set up for this book and that we got to know the characters of the future books. I also like the story of Ava and Reed. They were both great characters and you could definitely tell there was chemistry between them. I also like that we got to see Reed return to his home and not only fall in love with Ava all over again, but fall in love with his hometown too.

There is a lot that both Reed and Ava have to unpack in their lives and I didn't feel that they really delved into it that much. Both characters had a lot going on with both their combined history and individual histories and I didn't see them work on that too much. I didn't see much growth with either of them throughout the novel, but there was definitely growth from the ten years between the initial romance and the second chance.

This was yet another adorable Sarina Bowen books, which I enjoyed. I will continue to pick up my "comfort read" author!

This book has everything I was looking for but didn’t know I wanted and has officially broken me out of my kindle reading slump: 2nd chance romance, with chemistry for days, and a total emotional backstory. Family business/drama, small Colorado resort tosn setting, and a pinch of hallmark movie plotting. The book takes place at the start of ski season, so it’s the absolute perfect thing to have on your fall/early winter TBR. It was the perfect mix of outdoorsy Colorado setting mixed with behind the scenes hospitality and business management. Gave me some definite Miles Brothers meets Moose Springs meets Wolf Hotel with the usual Sarina magic (she’s really just the queen at mixing NA college into adulthood stories that are somehow real but also a perfect escape)

There are 2 subsequent books in the series written by other authors that come out the next 2 weeks! To say that I’m excited to read them is a huge understatement. I can’t wait for more from the Madigan family and to finally meet the other 2 brothers we’ve only heard about thus far.
