This is the first romance I have read by Shalvis. I thought it was quite good. I don't usually read contemporary romance, but I will be looking for more by this author.

I read romance for escape, for humor, for the sex, but most importantly I read any romance for the romance. Katie and Cam have great chemsitry which makes for a fun read.

I liked it but it wasn't nearly as good as her Lucky Harbor series.

Jill Shalvis creates another amazing setting in Wishful that makes the reader look forward to the many loving adventures that will take place there.

This was a hot, funny, and quirky romance! Jill Shalvis is a master at this kind of story! I was totally engrossed, hoping for a HEA.

I’ve missed reading a yummy Shalvis rom. Characters are great. Romance ignites. HEA worthy.

This was my first Jill Shalvis. I had heard good things about this series from a fellow romance-loving friend of mine, and I was in the mood for a "small northern town" contemporary romance. Ergo, I thought of this series immediately. It was a good read. The very first scene had me laughing out loud! Cam and Katie had some great banter throughout the book. They also had some insane chemistry and really great almost-moments. And holy cow, can Shalvis write a sex scene! I felt the need for a cold shower a couple times.

I really loved Katie. She was feisty and witty without being obnoxious about it. She had a habit of talking to herself, which was endearing, and she had some real things to work on with herself. I enjoyed reading her journey. Cam was sexy and awesome, but he came with his share of issues that got old fast. The supporting characters were intriguing, and I really enjoyed the subplot. In fact, I was rooting for that couple just as much as I was rooting for Cam and Katie.

Now, for some quotes. Because Shalvis just writes some immensely quotable lines, I will say.

❝Like the newly brave woman she was, she threw the covers over her head and hoped he hadn't seen her.❞

❝You ever have a day that's just a complete waste of mascara?❞

❝"Do you exercise?"
"It's on my to-do list." At the bottom, but still...❞

❝On the one hand, it sounded like a great adventure. On the other, it sounded like an unusual obituary.❞

This was my first Jill Shalvis. It was an enjoyable read, but in my opinion, it does not showcase her best work. I have since read 3 more by Shalvis, and I'm in the middle of another. All of these have been substantially better than Instant Attraction, and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite contemporary romance authors. This is funny because it is exactly what happened with Julia Quinn. I had heard great things about her, so I picked up The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever. I was less than impressed. But then I gave her another shot, and I discovered her brilliance. I think it's good that I am reminded of that now and again. An author might just be okay or good in one book, but their next book might be utterly stupendous. I think I am going to challenge myself to read at least one more book this year by an author of whom I did not have the best first impression.

omg

omg you guys

This book is so wonderfully warm and fuzzy and funny that I don't know what to do with myself other than squee in happiness because FINALLY! A book where I love the heroine, I don't want to murder the hero and the secondary characters are so loveable and relatable that I am actually having a hard time believing I found this. I even fell for the damn stray cat, Chuck! And no it has nothing to do with the fact that I've rescued two stray kittens this month.

Ok, maybe a little but Chuck was so sweet!

And this book? IT'S SO GOOD.

Katie was a joy to read. She was just so wonderful. I have nothing but praise for her. She had issues, but she was so damn sincere and open and honest and I related to her so much. The whole getting over a trauma made me ache for her.

Cam was a stud muffin with a very marked commitment phobia, but you just felt bad for the poor guy. Sure, I wanted to smack him but in a REALIZE THE MISTAKE IN YOUR WAYS AND LOVE HER NOW DAMNIT.

I loved the Wilders and everyone that surrounds them. I also love that the next couple was introduced and not in a beat-you-over-the-head-with-it way. It was organic, it flowed, it made damn sense!

It just restored my faith in Contemporaries cause I was getting fed up with the amount of lackluster crap I kept reading. Nothing made me laugh or hit me in the feels or seemed well written lately. Not the case here THANK GOODNESS.

This is my first Shalvis and I'm sure it won't be my last.

Both Katie and Cameron went through life changing accidents, but while Katie now tries to say yes and take chances, Cameron (formerly a Olympic Gold Medalist snowboarder) isn't. Until he finds Katie sleeping in his cabin after he returns to Wishful, Washington.

Super smoldering hot. I don't know what Shalvis does, but she does it really right for me. I still hate these covers though.
