4.5 stars - haha, what a fun read! A girl learning to believe in her own worth, with a cute romantic sub-plot.
I loved the sarcastic tone in which Tress of the Emerald Sea was written, and the language features were top tier. I think I'd consider the book to be a 'cozy fantasy romance', thrilling but not super stressful like a lot of romantasies are. A nice world too, good food for thought.
Unfortunately I figured out the significant plot twist that shall not be named very early on, so that spoiled it a little.
