Listened to the 2018 update audiobook. Quite good. Even as a person who budgets on a regular basis.

I mean, just get YNAB. But a few good ideas and points to consider.

This is a great book. If I could, I would ensure that everyone receives a copy of it with their first pay check.

It has the potential to fundamentally change the way you view money and time in your life.
The authors recommend following the "nine-step program" for that to happen.
But even if you were to pick it up and read the whole thing from cover to cover (some places its laboriously slow), the idea that will remain with you will be one of the truest you've known till now.

There’s a reason it’s a classic in personal finance. It’s main approach isn’t about managing money, it’s about defining your relationship with money, and that is a crucial thing to do. Definitely worth a read.

First read this book nearly 20 years ago and just finished the updated version. It works. I am an avid fan of the program. Highly recommended!
