Some good ideas, others not so much i found it kind of repetitive at points but for a book thats nearly 900 years old it was an inside into one of the most prominent ancient figures

โ€œWhen you arise in the morning think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love ...โ€

Not much to add about this one. Aurelius' Meditations is an excellent book to pick up when you need some guidance, some grounding words to reflect on and let sink in during any time in your life. The words feel personal and meaningful, and a lot of the books had content which resonated with me and helped me feel at peace with issues that have affected me previously, especially the concept of death and how to be accepting of it.

Personally ended up putting this book down for a few months and picking it up again recently, which let me read the final 3 books with a somewhat clean slate. I think this helped with the feeling of repetitiveness within Meditations, however I agree that some chapters are repetitive and drawn on throughout all of the books. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing but rather something that Aurelius contemplated deeply, which is understanding (as many of us contemplate these things regularly too). I think there are definitely marked chapters within this collection that I will return to and reflect on throughout the coming years. ๐Ÿ“–

Strange translation. Will try again with a better one some time
