This reminds me a lot of my childhood. I loved it.

A classic, a whimsical magical world

It was cute. Some parts read a bit like a Grimm Fairytale to me, which was quite entertaining. It was obviously very different from the classic movie, but I like them both!

Book 53 of 2025: The Wizard of Oz - L. Frank Baum

A tornado carries Dorothy and her dog Toto away from Kansas to the unusual land of Oz. To get home she must follow the yellow brick road and find the wizard. She picks up some friends along the way who also have their own wishes.

Review:
⭐️ 3/5

An enjoyable read of a classic story, having watched the film multiple times I knew the basic storyline (although I’m sad to learn the shoes aren’t actually red!). I’m glad I read the author’s note stating that this book was designed without using the usual fairytale style of including morality, although I did miss that element within this tale. I wish  I had read this as a child to appreciate it more, but as an adult I wish there was a little bit more character development throughout.
