3.5-3.75ish ✨ She falls for her brother’s BFF before they fake date. There was something a little off about this one for me that made me not quite like it as much as the other. Not sure exactly what that was. Love Grae though! She’s so great.

A slight second chance, brothers best friend, fake dating romance with a wild plot twist. Romance with a hint of mystery/thriller always keeps me on my toes.

“Well, when it comes to you, murder is my love language.”

Tropes/Themes:
-MF small town romantic suspense
-Brother’s best friend
-Billionaire hero
-Hate to love
-Friends to strangers to lovers
-Fake dating (her ex won’t leave her alone so he steps in to be her fake boyfriend)
-Forced proximity
-Chronic illness rep (heroine has Type I diabetes)
-Dual POV
-Book #3 in an interconnected standalone series

I hate to say it, but Catherine Cowles is starting to get a tad repetitive for me. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love her writing style and found this book just as sweet and suspenseful as ever. It’s just that her characters and plots are starting to blend together and it’s all getting a little too formulaic for me. Regardless, I still plan on reading everything Catherine Cowles writes though and am super excited for Roan’s book!

CWs for loss of a loved one, cancer, arson, conversations and depictions of chronic illness, gun violence, kidnapping, assault

Story: 3/5
Audiobook: 5/5 (narrated by Joe Arden & Erin Mallon)
Length 8h30min
