THIS BOOK MADE ME SO UNCOMFORTABLE.

Camilla Bruce expertly pulls the reader back and forth into believing both stories. Do fairies exist, or is this just a delusion caused by extreme abuse?

I am on the side of Cassie on this one, actually, which I won’t spoil. But dang, this was so tense, and you really have to pay attention to the small details.

Spoiler:
The dad’s cologne was pepper scented. I do believe this was purposely seeded.

This is a dark and difficult book, but an enthralling one. The book presents two possibilities for its events and refuses to choose one, but as they unravel you learn much about the main character and the impact of abuse. The prose and pacing are beautiful.

I went into this thinking it was a mystery thriller about a murder case, it was actually a very interesting paranormal horror book. I found this to be an amazing read, intriguing and uncomfortable in the best ways. The writing style complemented the story perfectly. The creep factor was a plus for me since I like creepy books. I read this in one day, it's is short and fast paced.

This was a very, very strange book. I was expecting a normal psychological thriller or another normal murder mystery. Instead, this was a really deep dive into childhood trauma, psychosis, and how the mind finds ways to cope. The protagonist is insanely easy to sympathize with and all of her actions align easily with her past and her illness. Everything in this book makes sense, which is so much easier said than done.

It’s a deep dive into psychosis that feels so real. Cassie’s life and imagined details are so vivid and its always clear exactly where they stem from. The Faerie world in this book is so rich and scary. Not going to lie, it really freaked me out. This book was scary, deep, and I flew through it. Overall, I really, really liked it.
