I am genuinely ashamed that I continue to read these books.

Ugh, this was so boring and I hated the ending!

Nothing, literally nothing happened in this book until like the last 20 pages. And even those took forever to get through.

I really did not like how the Daphne and Jefferson plot line played out. The plot she used it absolutely awful and makes me want to throw the book against the wall. It’s insensitive and insulting. And it shouldn’t have been included.

I also really distilled Nina at the end here too. Grow up and control yourself. It’s never ok.

Will I read the next book if the series? Ya, I probably will. But goodness I hope it’s better than this one.

The book was a slow burn that seemed to have a story all laid out but the last few chapters threw a lot of curve balls, making me very excited for book #4

4.8⭐️ | I had completely forgotten about this series, but I am so glad I found it again! I love the multiple POV‘s, being able to keep up-to-date with all the characters perspectives is so much fun to do. Just when I started to like Daphne a little bit, I am right back to wanting to knock her out! I don’t really know how I feel about Samantha in this book. I always love Mina, but want her to stand up for herself! Beatrice is of course lovely, but I always feel so sad for her character.

Pensé que sería el libro finaaaaal.
Y definitivamente este libro bajo muchos puntos para Nina, really she was just a piece of. Osea te besas al chico que es el novio de tu amiga y quieres que ella lo entienda pero te molesta que al final Jeff no la dejo por ti?? Men, estas loca.
El final de Bee, I was shocked.
Intentaré leer el siguiente, audiolibro this time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two volumes of the American Royals series; originally, the series was meant to be a duology, however, after reading the ending to the second book, I knew the door was open for further volumes. With the fourth book due to come out later this year, I finally got around to listening to the third book, Rivals, which sees Beatrice sitting precariously on the throne of America, the first woman to do so, and at her young age, unsure of her position.

The League of Kings is meeting in America for the first time, so Beatrice is put to the test. She’s also dealing with Teddy, her betrothed, whom she didn’t marry when pressured, but is in love with and sees a future with.

Told from the same POV as the other books, Beatrice, her younger sister Sam, Sam’s best friend, Nina, and former girlfriend to Sam’s twin Jeff, Daphne, the pattern continues yet changes, too. In this volume, Sam’s involvement with Marshall, the future Duke of Orange, leads to some big decisions, as Sam is heir to the throne, but so is he. Somehow in this volume we see a more sympathetic view of Daphne, which wasn’t necessarily a good thing, because now she and Nina are getting along. There’s also an introduction of a new bad girl, Gabriella, which I found superfluous. Just keep Daphne as the antagonist, I say.

I enjoyed the continuation of the stories, although I didn’t necessarily agree with some of the twists and turns. Jeff is pretty useless as a character but is essential for all the women in his life to scheme and fall over themselves in order to get his attention. That said, I’m anxiously awaiting volume 4, which comes out later this year. I’m enjoying this alternative version of the United States with the Washington family as the head of a monarchy.

It’s the development of all the different love stories that has me on the edge of my seat. Seriously like a telenovela, but more like real life if we were the royal family of America.
