i struggle with postmodern literature ! i never come to understand what it's about, so when my American Literature professor suggested this book ,i said why not? let me give it another chance. And i get it all now! am never going to fathom postmodernism, its fragmentation , dilemma or whatever, and i'm failing that class no doubt.

This was not a bad book of stories, but it just wasn't for me. I can get rather picky with my literary fiction, and I just didn't vibe with these stories. Maybe it was because they were too short, or, for me, it didn't feel like really anything was happening.

This book was about everything we don’t say and remains hidden. A beautiful ode to human communication or the lack of it for that matter.

I was moved by each of these stories and that says a lot about Carver’s writing abilities.

There is no finality, only beautiful torture. Just like in life.
