You can never guess what happened to the characters in his book, which is an absolute beauty of his short stories. Short and sweet.

don’t exactly see how it lives up to the hype i’ve heard about around it, but i liked a few stories and it was well written.

I rated each story in this and did the math to scientifically rate it about a 3.3/5, but I still think I enjoyed it quite a bit. Enough to want to add more points to the rating. Some of the stories were fun and strange, some seemingly inconsequential. Carver has such a strong voice, though, and I really enjoyed the narration style of the characters.
Favorites were “Why Don’t You Dance, “The Bath,” “After the Denim,” “A Serious Talk,” the title story and “One More Thing.” So quite a few, I really liked.
