Overstating my love for these understated stories... Most of the stories lie in the words unsaid, and though some of the details of the tales are going to escape me, the unspoken words and the way they made me feel won’t.
most stories go nowhere and they talk about the dirty and dark sides of love, but I found I liked that.
still, i'm torn between liking or disliking this book.
that suits the book tho

Raymond Carver skriver perfekt. Ikke ett ord er overflødig. Han er den mest inspirerende forfatteren jeg vet om.

No rating. The writing is notable but I think I’m not the right audience for this book. The stories are intriguing and flip the thinking switch… then you’re abandoned, left to ponder the rest…
Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood.

Sad parts of love. the love we don't like to talk about, but the love that trickles in, eventually. the loss of love. the reshaping of love. the falling out of love. the unrequited love. the almost love.

This is a solid collection of stories. If you haven’t read it, I would give it a read. It’s not the most outstanding by no means, but it’s not horrible either. it fits my theme for the month ie love which I already stated in an another review.
If that’s not enough though, here are some quotes that I liked.
“My heart is broken,” she goes. It’s s
turned to a piece of stone. I’m no good. That’s what’s as bad as anything, that I’m no good anymore.”
“Mel thought real love was nothing less than spiritual love.”
“But I think what you’re saying is that love is an absolute.”

I think there’s something really beautiful about having so much to say but only needing a few words to say it. This book has furthered my love for short stories, and was a great introduction to Carver.
