This story is emotionally complicated and uncomfortable to read, but also so beautiful in its honesty and vulnerability. Everyone - absolutely everyone - should read this one. My only critique pertains to the frequent timeline jumps - more tangible anchors to help the reader keep track of the order of events would have been helpful.

Powerful and vivid and tragic, it’s a story of grief so really that’s what to expect. A little disorienting for me with the switching tenses/timelines, but worth checking out nonetheless.

The author, like all the other Canadian authors, he did not write done the word of "racist" in the book. It seems he tries to avoid to write it down but tries to lay the facts.
However, sometimes, it is necessary to write notions dows, such as, "the racism is still around in Canada, it is there. People can lose their job, friends, and mind or even their life for standing up to against racism."

Gosh the book was incredible. It was a masterclass in writing and even though you could tell how the story ended it still hit me in the heart reading it. Absolutely amazing would highly recommend
