Is 'ns iets anders.

I like maps. All sorts of maps. This is a collection of odd and different maps.

A wonderful trip through a wide range of map types/designs/functions. Though it can be disconcerting when the text is obviously pulled directly from the website on which the book is based. Ultimately it's a book for map geeks, otherwise just hunt down the blog.

These maps are indeed strange and the history behind them such interesting trivia!

Wish I could do three and a half stars. My complaint would be that some maps were fascinating and some I didn't do more than read the title. But I also appreciate that everyone would have different interests in these fascinating strange maps!

A fairly random collection of blog posts.
informative lighthearted medium-paced

A collection of historical made up maps, propaganda, data viz, political cartoons, art, misunderstandings of geography, and more. Admittedly, I skimmed this book but the maps were interesting to see and the blurbs I did read seemed well put together. A few maps included in this collection felt out of place, but most of them were interesting.

I think it was really fun to look at the variety of weird and unexpected maps. My one critique is that it really works better as an online blog and not a book since some of the features of the maps were so small that you really want to be able to zoom in.

Strange indeed. You would think that a book about maps would have big brilliant maps, nope this book is word heavy with many of the maps compressed into the corners. Such a good idea wasted.
