A very poignant graphic novel. I'm still not sure whether I'd like to read the long-form book, but this book absolutely challenged my beliefs. I wish the book had done more to challenge or explain why you have to live by The Rules, because I found myself quite frustrated by that . This was likely the point and I just don't get it, and maybe this is explained in the original book.

Absolutely fantastic illustrations that go with the text seamlessly. I could hear the characters while reading their dialogue which was brilliant.

My sweet sweet baby. I love this story but I hate it too like. Big yikes everything hurts. I read the novel in 2019 and finally decided to pick up the graphic novel. The illustrations were beautiful and Jason Reynolds pops off everytime but Jesus.
I preferred the verse, though I'll definitely be recommending this to patrons.
