Wow

Stunning! I loved the graphic novel as much as I loved the original and the audio.

The novel version was a 5 star, and the graphic novel is a 5 star plus! A perfect combination of art and words and layout.

Audiobook.

Will is 15 and knows The Rules: 1) No Crying, 2) No Snitching, 3) Always get Revenge. On the longest elevator ride of his life, he is confronted by individuals who have been harmed by others following these same rules. Maybe Will can make a different choice.

The verse in the original novel is astounding, and the watercolor graphic additions in this adaptation stopped my breath at multiple points in reading. Highly recommend - please read this book.

The amazing illustrations in this book help depict the emotion and experience of the text so well. The pictures portrayed so much detail that when the words on the page were confusing you could look to the picture for theme, emotion, time, or place.

Every bit as powerful and hard-hitting as Jason Reynolds' original novel. Danica Novgorodoff's watercolor illustrations really honor the tone and real, raw emotions of the original story, while at the same time capturing that ethereal, otherworldly experience.

This graphic novel is worth more than 5 stars!
Incredible collaboration.
