Just wasn't necessary. The first one was so much better and I'm not bothering with the third.

2.5

I disliked the swap to Wendy’s POV at the end just like how the first book swapped to Nina’s POV. Clearly it was meant to be similar on purpose but I didn’t like it. With Nina we learned the desperation she went through, with Wendy you just hear her completely evil and delusional inner monologue and she never learns that she’s so horrible. Yes she dies and Marybeth gets away with it, but she dies believing she was justified and could still get out of things so it doesn’t feel all that satisfying.

I like Millie and Enzo together, though since they’re now together I wish he hadn’t slept with Nina before, it just feels a bit off. And Brock felt entirely unnecessary and you can’t convince me that he was included for any reason other than Enzo calling him Brocoli.

I did suspect that Wendy was setting her up, but I didn’t expect the fake Douglas twist or that Marybeth would show up at the cabin. When reading a book like this I don’t want to guess all the twists so I’m happy I wasn’t clued in on everything. I’ll still finish the series but this was slightly worse than the first one.

This stays at a 2.5 because while I have a lot of issues with the series (such as Millie’s character being unrealistic), fundamentally this book took me 3 ish hours to read and it kept my attention. The time spent reading it was again, worth it. If these books weren’t so easy to fly through their ratings would be lower.I’m
