Definitely light hearted and amusing... The Kranks decide that instead of spending money on everything Christmas, they will NOT do Christmas and go on a cruise instead. Hilarity ensues as they deal with all the neighbors and community members who keep forcing the holiday on them. A very short story about friendship and holiday that is sweet.

It'd be a perfect read for Christmas. It's unlike the other Grisham books; no crime to solve nor lawyers in this one. The main character is a little annoying and out of touch, but the final message is about the generosity of Christmas.

This is a very quick read. Under 200 pages. Told in a dual 3rd person POV. There is a movie that is loosely taken from this book called "Christmas with the Kranks." After reading this story I personally feel the movie is better. Actors Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis make this so much more funny than the actual story did. I enjoy watching the movie every year and laughing. Reading this book I didn't laugh once and both Nora and Luther got on my nerves. Heck everyone in the booked sounds more selfish and annoying than the Movie comedy.

Quick read on the plane. Just something to pass the time but a reminder that Christmas is more than receiving material things...it's about family and friends coming together to share in the spirit of the season.
