So I've always been intrigued by cults and how people are brainwashed by them so I was excited to read this book I liked the book.
Our Fmc, Imogene has lived most of her life following the practices and beliefs of Serendee. Her mom left the cult so she and her dad are faced with the shame and backlash that comes from that, she is ordered to rex who is the leader of the cult's son and was excited to start living and being the perfect mate for him.
The leader of the cults son (Rex) hates the world and their beliefs and has no interest in her so he rejects her, this leads rex's father (Anex) to ask Rex's best friends to mold and train Imogene to be a woman that rex would like. Imogene grows closer to Elon, Silas, and Levis and starts learning more about the world and seeing that everything isn't as it says in their world.
This was an interesting start to the series and I want to know what happens next with all the characters!

*TW listed below*

Tropes // arranged marriage, why choose, cult, age gap (fmc 18, not sure abt the guys but I know they’re older)

I must have a weird obsession with cults bc I’m always *unknowingly* reading books with that trope lol. I was really enjoying this book but ultimately settled for a 3⭐️ bc I just can’t get past that one part where one of the love interests rapes the fmc (there are tw @ the beginning of the book but this one wasn’t mentioned). At first I was thinking he may not even be one of the love interests bc he was mentioned a lot but he wasn’t in a lot of scenes but I’m pretty sure he is.

TW // rape (by one of the love interests // which seems to be missing in tw provided by the author), dub-con, mental and emotional abuse, self-harm, manipulation

Um. What did I just read? This book was everything I imagine that takes place inside of a cult. The grooming, the brainwashing, the EVERYTHING. Holy smokes.

Imogene is dedicated to The Way and to Anex. She is chosen to take place in The Order, which is a privilege to members. Once her Mate has been chosen, Anex has Silas, Elon and Leon prepare Imogene for Rex, but is that the real reason?

Every time I think that it can't get worse, I'm wrong. This book is dark, it's twisted, it is insane. I cannot wait for the next book. I need answers and I need to know more about Serendee!
dark fast-paced

I think it has a lot of potential, but fell flat in some areas. By the end, I was so scared for Imogene and ready to claw out Rex's eyes.

I am still processing this book and I cannot rate it at the moment. I am not really into the cult aspect of this book and I am not faulting Angel for that (this was my first tie reading from her)but it was hard to wrap my mind around it. It did dive deep into the beliefs of the people and it all started to unravel to the main FC. Now can we call this a RH..not really since she was getting her "training" from Rex's friends in order to prepare her for him. They all ended up having feelings for her and caring. I will perhaps read the second book in this series just to see where it goes, especially with the ending of this book.

"You have been Ordered”

I devoured this book in a single sitting, and it rocked my world.

The author was able to create such a visual and emotional setting with her words that I felt I was experiencing the cult effects along with the characters.

It’s not the darkest I've ever read, but it was dark enough to fulfill my dark appetite.

I don’t want to spoil the story and highly recommend going in blind, but I’ll leave some non spoiling details below.
