I really enjoyed the fact that she has as much commitment issues as he does refreshing for the female character to and rare in romantic fiction .
The books starts when he has nowhere to live and must stay in her flat ( They had a one time stand one year ago and have not told his sister and her best friend)

Stella - Is an Italian who runs a coffee shop with her family , her family really want her to get married but she hasn't . Her family is conservative, Patriarchal and traditional.  It explained later why she avoids relationships once they get serious and influence and effect of the family dynamics on it. Her relationship with her grandmother is sweet and lovely . ( Also really liked Nan's back story later in the book) ties nicely with Stella's . Stella's point of view was always great. And her reasons for the secretiveness are characters really well and make sense.

Carter - Initially I thought I was going hate him and  he'd be a toxic alpha male type. But i was wrong , how he gets on with her family, is sweet to her grandmother and listens to her. He also has commitment issues. Does not judge her.  Also the banter with Stella was great. He works as real estate agent and is back in town suddenly for reasons you learn later in the book.

Also enjoyed epilogue , found first part book not great a little cliche' but second half is great.

personal preference - Sex without a condom seen but it does not matter because i'm on the pill never works for me.  And miscommunication was a little annoying but I can except  that people with commitment issues can be bad communicators.

Also introduces issues but does not fully address them I.E Her grandmothers house, Patriarchal double standard is introduced further addressed when plot doesn't need it anymore, further than the grandmothers backstory.

Best Monica Murphy audio-book I have listened to this year
