A resident of a hotel nearby the train tracks decided to strike up a conversation with the signal-man who seems quite disshevled. Why? Because a ghost comes and waves at the signal man everytime a misfortune is to take place, and the signal man just saw the ghost again.
I have a love hate relationship with dickens and in my opinion this isn't his best story telling.

Short and concise. A ghost story that comes full circle. I enjoy Dickens' simple writing style. The story was eerie and slightly unsettling, and I liked it

I’ve read this story before, but it was so long ago, I’d mostly forgotten the effective ending. The story’s atmosphere is enhanced even further by Seth’s illustrations.
