I positively love this book. Mercy, ever on the quest for food, accidentally catches a wannabe-cowboy burgler when he makes the mistake of trying to steal her beloved toaster. Add that the thief likes butter candies, and Mercy starts snuffling his good smell. Once again, the cast of nearly-half witted authorities are called in, and toast must be had by all before the thief can be taken away.

Silly animal story that little kids will flock to. Worth noting: the stories are self-contained but make reference to earlier adventures .

I agree, toast with lots of butter is delicious.

We are really enjoying this series!

The usual cast of characters are back at it again for this book. There is much talk of eating butter toast. Mercy is a hero.

A really fun chapter book series that is great for young ones to hear as a read-aloud. The story lines are complex enough to keep parents interested but also easy enough to follow and understand.

A cute, quick story to use for my small reading group instruction.

It's hard to find quality books for the in-between picture books and full chapter books phase. These chapters are just short enough, with just enough pictures, to keep 3yo Rosie interested.
