I loved this collection of short stories my favourite being ‘A Christmas Memory’; recollections of Truman Capote’s childhood are both painful and beautiful and give a greater insight into the man himself. Now I need to re read some of my favourite of his novels as his prose is always beautiful

A sweet story about a child and an older woman, Miss Sook, who spent together some special years in Alabama. Come November, Miss Sook will declare "it's fruit cake time" and will proceed to purchase all the many ingredients needed, with the money she and the seven-year-old Buddy saved throughout the year.
It's a very melancholic story.
