My god I loved this. I’m tired bc I’ve stayed up late reading this and have been crying on and off since the halfway mark but wow what a book.
My favourite romances are ones where the characters face real issues, and have to work on themselves in order to end up together, so I already suspected this would be a hit.
Justin is incredible, and if I had one complaint about this book it would probably be that I wish he had a little more development, as he seemed a little unrealistic at times but honestly that’s so minor and doesn’t take away from the rest of the story about Emma and her mum (and Maddy).
I loved the empathy shown in this book, and the self-healing that takes place. There are so many gems of dialogue and of writing that I’ll take with me and I’m really so glad I picked this book up.
Check your trigger warnings for sure but if it sounds like something you can handle, I highly recommend.

First Abby Jimenez read and the first romance book to make me emotional in a long time. I was so invested in these characters from early on, they felt real in a way a lot of romance books miss.
I am usually the biggest hater of third act breakups, but I thought this one was both mature and appropriate and realistic.
I loved how Justin's character was fully invested in the relationship from the beginning, I can't stand when boyfriends in books are aloof or act like they don't care. The relationship between Emma and Justin's siblings (and his relationship with them) had me nearly in tears. No notes!

This sucked me in so quick. I loved Justin & ached for Emma & I loved the strength of Maddy. The whole thing hit me in all the feels.
It's not on my bookshelf yet, but it's definitely going on my wishlist.

This was my first Jimenez book, and I couldn't put it down. I was looking for a nice summer romance book, and this one delivered, and we still got so much character depth. Also, I love Justin so much. Help.

You can still love someone that you've decided not to speak to anymore. You can still wish them well and hope for the best for them. Choosing a life without them doesn't mean you stop caring about them. It just means that you can't allow them to harm you anymore. But if you don't think your life would be better without them in it, then accept that they have cracks. Try to understand how they got them and help fill them with something that isn't ice.
