Always been a Ferris fan. Salinger-esque writing — all grabbed me from the first page and most left me wanting more, which are the marks of the best short stories. Recommend!

I got this at a holiday book swap, and I just finished it now. The main characters in all the stories are men who have constructed realities in their own heads and act horribly. It just hard to read those stories when we are living in one of them.

The stories are well-written, but all the characters are just really shallow people driven by sex or violence.

The stories in this book were truly terrible--and by that I mean they were filled with awful people making very poor choices. Once I accepted that nothing good was ever going to happen, I could settle down and, not enjoy the stories, but at least relax and read.

I only liked two of the short stories. The book was well-written (no fault of the writer); however, I just didn't connect and find much interest in the stories.
Personally- I think I need to steer clear of short stories and stick to novels.

This would have been 5 stars if there were more new stories included in this book, but I felt like I'd read about half in the New Yorker. But the stories themselves are all fantastic: weird, sad gut-punches of text.

Too nyorky and relationship oriented for me, but good.

Nice short summer read! Some of the stories are quite relatable depending on what stage in life you're at.
