The two narrative poems contained here come across as rather dated yet the language is charming. The first narrative poem is of a young boy, his past-times and how they are reflected, materially in his bedroom. The bedroom is an extension of who he is which can be said to hold some truth within it. The Adventures of Isabel is quite different with Isabel overcoming a collection of fairy-tale obstacles such as bears, witches and giants either through eating them or outwitting them. I personally liked her last encounter with a doctor who tried to tame Isabel through pills only to find himself flattened by the young girl and forced to eat them himself. Definitely one open for discussion.
