This book would have benefited from an editor to trim down some of the fluff. The pacing was odd, and the falling action and resolution were not paced well.

📖 : The Pakhan
👩💻 : Piper Stone
💡 : Caroline is a hacker who gets herself into big trouble when she hacks the wrong people. The only person she can turn to for help is Vadim, her best friends dad and Pakhan of the Russian Mafia. After he punishes her for being so careless with her own wellbeing he takes her in and soon they discover that the people who are after Caroline might also be involved with the murder attempt that nearly killed Vadim.
❤️ : Caroline is one of those characters that I loved from the start. Not only because she's kind of a rebel, but because she's too smart for her own good. Her wits and Vadim's need for control result in some delicious banter scenes between the pair.
I loved the chemistry between both characters, but what I liked even more was the mystery surrounding the raid on Caroline's appartment, the murder attempt, and the fact that Vadim is most likely being betrayed. It made the book really suspenseful and difficult to put down.

🤔 : I really liked the male narrator, he managed to really capture the different personalities of each individual character. The female narrator has a great voice as well, but I wished she'd altered her voice a bit more for the different characters. Because I sometimes couldn't make out when Vadim was speaking or when the FMC was having some internal thoughts going on.

The Pakhan by Piper Stone is a dark mafia romance novel. I adore mafia romance from this author. They are always well written with well developed characters and just exciting reads. This one is no different. It involves an age gap romance between a young hacker and pakhan in the Russian mafia.
Caroline is best friends with the daughter of the Pakhan of the Russian mob. She is on the run after working as a hacker for another mob. As Vadim agrees to protect her and also use her skills a relationship starts to grow between them.
As always an excellent book by Piper Stone.
