This second book picks up right where the first left off. It was easy to jump back into everything going on and want to stay involved with the story. I still feel as though these books have more potential than Morgan has put into them. They are meant to be YA but it seems she's decided to stay on the younger side of YA, closer to the middle-school aged audience. The lack of detail to the world, the quick moving of one issue to the next, it just doesn't engage me in the same way the creators of the TV series was able to.

There's obviously many differences from the books to the TV series and I've been reading with an open mind in that sense. But realizing how much more involvement there is to the series, along with how other books of similar taste have added more to their development, this series just isn't reaching it's full depth.

I do still enjoy them. I love the idea Morgan brought to life. Is this something that could really happen and is it actually possible for mankind to survive in both ways. Prequels to both the Earthborns and the Colonists would be fun to read about. How did they both survive? What was the chaos at the "end of the world" like? How were people chosen? For me it would bring a whole new vision to each side of what life is, what it means to survive in a world unknown, and to see how two sides of a story can become terribly warped over time.

But for now, I'll be continuing on to book 3 seeing how the rest of the Colonists join in with the Hundred and if things work for everyone to rebuild Earth.
