Unromance was so clever. Each chapter was separated into typical romance tropes, and our story followed them, but often with a little twist. Our main characters have a chance encounter in an elevator, and keep running into eachother. Our FMC, Sawyer, is a jaded romance writer who needs to get her romance groove back to beat the writers blocks she's had since her last break-up. Our MMC, Mason has the opposite problem--he keeps falling in love too easily, and as a TV star, the tabloids are having a field day with his string of failed relationships. The two team up-- Mason to inspire romance for Sawyer and Sawyer to ruin romance for Mason.

This was so so fun! Mason is the epitome of a cinnamon roll, and I love when a jaded character with a hard exterior starts to crack and open up.

Cute story, the characters were fun and likeable for the most part. The plot is predictable but it's well written. If you're looking for a light and enjoyable contemporary romance where you know exactly what's going to happen, you won't regret picking this one up. I would have given it 4 stars if we could have forgone the forced need for a third act breakup... the build-up of which felt out of character for where the characters had gotten to, especially Mason's part in it. I also found Sawyer spent a lot of time moping over her past relationship and then occasionally  her family stuff came up too, but I think it would have felt a little strong and a bit less whiny on her part if her parents and Sadie had split equal time in making her mistrust relationships.

The FMC references her vagina as “coochie mane” during foreplay…it’s a no for me.

This went on way too long and like where was the conflict and learning? I think I learned that if I have writers block I just gotta fuck it out.

Somehow a bit disappointed about this book. I’ve been hearing such a good things about it that my expectations were too high!

A love story between a skeptical romance author and hopeless romantic actor?! Sign me uppp.

This was such a fun premise, but it lost me a bit in the middle. I truly thought I would eat this one up, but maybe it was a case of right audiobook wrong time??? I also listened to it in a damn heat wave in NYC, and a lot of the action takes place in the winter so maybe the vibes were just off. I can't quite put my finger on why I didn't fully love it.

I did, however, love the bi rep. ♡ And the tights scene? Thank you. 🤌🏽

I struggled with how to rate this book. 3 stars? 3.5 stars rounded down?
