got a little bored in the last 100 pages, but the book is still so cute and hilarious! had no idea it was a holiday romance as well.

Cute story! And yes you know how it’s ending but the journey getting there was a complete ahhhhhh. So a one night stand between a romance writer who is bitter about love after a bad break up and a soap star that was dumped by his onscreen lover because he was too much all in. She helps him reign in his hopeless romantic pitfall and she benefits by helping her writers block. Oh yes you know where this goes but pretty cute.

A very cute premise and watching these characters check off all the classic rom com scenes was fun.

You need to read this if you loved Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter but wished it was more adult.

It’s a super-meta rom-com. Like, each chapter begins with a quick description of a rom-com trope/cliché… and then proceeds to bring it to life.

She’s a romance author who doesn’t believe in love anymore; he’s a hopeless-romantic. So that’s why they embark on a mission to live out tropes — for her to be inspired and for him to be… less hopeless, I guess?

I was worried it would be gimmicky but it worked. I loved the references to other rom-coms and all the tropes… considering how familiar I am with the genre, I feel like I got every one.

I think it was about 20% too long. Like, 75% of the way in, it felt like it was wrapping up… but it wasn’t. Anyway, I enjoyed it overall.  It may not have gone super-deep, but it was fun. Definitely an author worth reading again.

she was…cute???? i read this because jessica joyce raved about it and anything associated with that woman i would like my hands on!

it was honestly a lil reminiscent of beach read in that they go on a mission to ruin romance for one person while making the other less of a simp, to be frank. the conflict was so obvious from the second we started that it kinda pissed me off, i think the mmc deserved better in a way but i loved the way he treated her. i was *interested* but my life wasn’t changed by any means after reading this and i would potentially(?) read more from her
